OUT & ABOUT

On our most recent observation of the community we stopped to investigate a nearby grocery store just to see what we could see. As we thought, stores that call themselves Food Stores often carry many items that are not food. We met the owner and asked if we could come back sometime to interview him about his store and why he felt it was important to open such a business in the community. Good News! He said YES! He was very pleased to have us as his guests and told us that Buddhist monks would be arriving shortly to bless the store… then he told us that he could not believe how lucky he was to be blessed twice in one day (first by our visit and, soon to be, by the monks). Oh, and he gave us treats! … and it was raining on the vegetables! … and there was a peanut butter making machine!

Moments later we found ourselves amid the oldest gravestones in the nearby cemetery. We noticed the numbers, the signs, the organization of the cemetery, and the many trinkets, decorations, and gifts left by loved ones. Finding the tallest gravestone was very exciting… we thought it might be for a queen. We even looked to see if Thomas Jefferson was buried here but we did not find his name anywhere.

ON CAMPUS

We of course played, and played, and thoroughly enjoyed the surprisingly glorious fall weather that graced us this week.

And we found a beautiful moth that looked like a fallen leaf.
