Greetings 7/8/9s Families!
What a great week we had together!
Please enjoy this week’s newsletter dictated by the 7/8/9s below!
We have been working on books in writing. Some people are almost finished and Cian is completely done. Everyone else will finish next week so we can share them at Town Meeting. The books are non-fiction. They are true stories that happened to us. We learned that our stories are called personal narratives. We read books by other authors to get ideas of how to write our books.
In math we started geometry. We learned about angles. There’s obtuse angles, and acute angles, and right angles. We learned about quadrilaterals. A quadrilateral has 4 sides, 4 angles, and 4 corners. We also talked about 3-D shapes like a 3-D square which is called a cube. It was exciting to learn about geometry.
“We learned geometry. Obtuse angle, right angle, and acute angles on Monday.”
In reading we were doing our Explode the Code books. They are really fun because there’s fun games inside. We read our independent books and we finished reading “The Witches” this week.
“We got a new book it is called Explode the Code it is fun because we do fun games.”
On Friday we found a humongous pile of sticks on the other side of the road near the blacksmith shop. Matthew was the one to find it and Knox said it was named “Matthew-topia”. We tried to find a Y stick for Thomas and Mike went down and found an old truck tire. It was awesome.
“We wacked the trees.”
“I found a new stick”
On Thursday we had a special movement class with Lili Loveday. She was Brittany’s teacher when Brittany was little. She did games and dancing and moving a lot with us. She gave us bulbs and we wrote a letter to them about what we hope and wish for them. She was really nice and it was fun.
“We are doing movement with Lili.”
“We are writing a note to the bulbs.”
In science this week we sprouted seeds. We planted beans in bags with water and paper towels before break. We put some in cool places, warm places, sunny places, and dark places. This week we checked them. The beans grew! We are thinking about what seeds need to grow.
“We are doing science and we look at the seeds and the seeds grow.”
We hope you had a very great weekend!
